Anita is from Sierra Leone, studying English and African American Studies at the University of Kentucky and has just finished her Master’s in Pan African Studies at the University of Louisville. “As a Sierra Leonean living in the United States, I have been bridging cultures throughout my life. This experience has taught me to look for differences to compromise and similarities to synthesize in order to balance different cultures.” She definitely believes in nurturing the next generation through her mentoring in the program “Big Brothers, Big Sisters” and tutoring young people in the “Knowledge is Power” program. She has been active in the National Association of Black Journalists on campus and the African Students Association, holding an official position in both these organizations. She enjoys reading, writing, singing, fashion and foreign policy analysis.
